King lawyer Brent Bryson confirmed on Thursday that, 'King died peacefully in his sleep at 9:40 p.m. PDT at his home in Las Vegas.' Known as the 'King Of Blues', King is a 15 time Grammy Award winner, has sold millions of records worldwide and was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
For 20 years, King has lived with type II diabetes and was briefly hospitalized in early April due to dehydration. After his released from the hospital, he posted a message to his website, updating fans that he was feeling much better, "I want to thank everyone for their concern and good wishes. I'm feeling much better and am leaving the hospital today." King never stopped his passion for music. His age and years in the industry did not slow him down. He continued to tour, doing about 300 shows per year. He had to end his tour last year due to dehydration and exhaustion after a show in Chicago. He also posted this message to his Facebook page, 'A Message From B,B, "I am in home hospice care at my residence in Las Vegas. Thanks to all for your well wishes and prayers.' This time yesterday, the message was goodbye. Long lives your legacy Mr. King.
